Although most editorial professionals develop a subject-matter niche, many find that solid editing, researching, reporting, and writing skills enable them to handle a wide variety of topics. The human-resource-development book The Power of Team Building, which I edited, is a good example. I’ve also written about such diverse topics as post-military-service career reinvention, dealing with depression, and arthritis for Military Officer, the member magazine of the Military Officers Association of America.
“We recently received the prestigious Benjamin Franklin Award (Educational/Technical category) for The Power of Team Building. Because Publishers Marketing Association [now the IIndependent Book Publishers Association] takes into consideration the overall presentation of the book, you are to be congratulated on a superb editing job. –Richard L.
